This Week in Base Camp
Weekly Challenge: Metronome Madness
Set your metronome to 80. Play a simple one-hand scale matching each note to one click of the metronome. Play the same scale again but this time play 2 notes for each click (as if your notes were eighth notes to a quarter note metronome click). Play the scale again with 4 notes to each click (like 16th notes). Then play the scale once more with one note for every two clicks (this will be very slow, as if you were playing half notes). Complete the challenge by posting which was easiest to play and which was hardest. For an extra challenge, do this exercise with a 4 measure part from one of your pieces.
Wednesday Tip: Plan to Practice
You plan lots of other things, why not plan your practice? This quick tip from Candace talks about the importance of having a plan and how it can impact your harp playing as a whole.
Weekend Warmup: Double Trouble
This is a simple drill, at least when you play it hands separately. But when each hand is playing the same notes at a different speed, you get a warm up for your brain as well as your fingers. Happy Weekend Warm Up!
