5 Ways to Give the Gift of Music

It can be hard to find the perfect gift, especially a gift for the special adults in your life. But you have a big advantage over most people. Why? Because you play the harp.

If you haven’t ever thought of your harp playing as a gift you could give someone, I’d like to help you rethink it. Harp music is special; we harpists all know that. It’s unique; how many people do you know who play the harp? And it’s something that is important to you. That makes it personal and extra meaningful both to you and to the person who receives it.

This Week in Base Camp

Monday Challenge: Metronome Madness

Set your metronome to 80. Play a simple one-hand scale matching each note to one click of the metronome. Play the same scale again but this time play 2 notes for each click (as if your notes were eighth notes to a quarter note metronome click). Play the scale again with 4 notes to each click (like 16th notes). Then play the scale once more with one note for every two clicks (this will be very slow, as if you were playing half notes). Complete the challenge by posting which was easiest to play and which was hardest. For an extra challenge, do this exercise with a 4 measure part from one of your pieces.

Terrific Tip: Make Notes

How to prep to return to your harp, when away on vacation or you just don't have time to practice.

New Name, Same Great Experience

Harp in the Mountains is now...
Harp Quest Summer Live!

What's in a name? At Harp Quest, our goal is to provide young harpists with the opportunity to learn and connect with one another virtually throughout the year. But a big part of who we are is also our annual harp camp, which for the past 17 years has been known as Harp in the Mountains.

We're excited to be able to continue to provide this in-person camp as part of the Harp Quest family of learning opportunities, and have renamed it accordingly.

Registration for Harp Quest Summer Live 2024 is open, and we'd love to have you join us.
