For Parents

Here’s How to Help Your Harpist Do More Focused Practice

Help your young harpist create a focused practice environment by minimizing potential distractions around them. This includes making sure they turn off electronic devices, creating a quiet space for them, and enlisting the support of other family members, particularly brothers and sisters, to ensure uninterrupted practice sessions. Also, give them a dedicated block of time in which to practice, separate from homework time. Finally, be sure they take a break when they are finished.

For Teachers

Need some interesting and unusual teaching pieces?

“On The Harp’s Strings, Op. 85” by Janina Garścia, edited by Marta Gargas is a collection of 11 short pieces for lever or pedal harp. They range in level from advanced beginner through intermediate and would be suitable as pieces for sight reading as well as instruction or recital pieces. They are original compositions, not transcriptions, so they are excellent pieces for strengthening fundamental skills. The sheet music is available through Creighton’s Collection: http://creightonscollection.co.uk/index.html?Pages/scores/UMP/UM1498.html~mainFrame

You can hear my play “Memory” from this collection on Episode 102 of the Practicing Harp Happiness podcast: https://www.harpmastery.com/blog/Episode-102

New Name, Same Great Experience

Harp in the Mountains is now...
Harp Quest Summer Live!

What's in a name? At Harp Quest, our goal is to provide young harpists with the opportunity to learn and connect with one another virtually throughout the year. But a big part of who we are is also our annual harp camp, which for the past 17 years has been known as Harp in the Mountains.

We're excited to be able to continue to provide this in-person camp as part of the Harp Quest family of learning opportunities, and have renamed it accordingly.

Registration for Harp Quest Summer Live 2024 is open, and we'd love to have you join us.
