We just celebrated another Independence Day here in the United States and it reminded me how much we harpists depend on the independence, and interdependence, of our fingers and our hands. That’s what technical facility means, to have fingers that work well together and on their own. Each finger must be able to play individually and with the other fingers. It must have an equal tone to the others and be able to match them in dynamic and expression. After all, we only use eight fingers; we can’t afford to have a slacker in the bunch.
OK - you need to be mindful of the weather. Don't play in the rain or put your harp in the sun. A shady porch would be perfect. Once you have selected your spot, take your harp outside and serenade the birds, the flowers, your neighbors, or no one at all. Just enjoy the sound of your harp in the outside world.
For Teachers
Mark your calendar for August 10th! We're excited to announce our upcoming Harp Mastery® Teacher Accreditation seminar! This one-day seminar will show you how to become the kind of teacher whose students don’t struggle with frustration or fear, but enjoy musical growth, progress and harp happiness. It’s also about the systems you can use that will enable you to find even more fulfillment and joy in your teaching. We'll be sending out the link to register next week, so keep an eye on this space!
